It’s important to teach our children that their actions have consequences. Learning this will help them develop an inner compass that will nudge them away from unacceptable behaviors or choices and toward those which are acceptable and praised. Things like, “throw a toy – ┬álose a toy” or “throw your food – lose your food”. The “punishment” is more effective when it fits the “crime” or speaks directly to the action.
