Beauty Is As Beauty Does: Praise Effort, Not Looks

BEAUTY IS AS BEAUTY DOES. This phrase is a powerful reminder to the importance of actions, effort, and making a difference, both for you and your kids. When you praise hard work, effort, perseverance, and integrity, your kids will learn what you value. Practice makes permanent, not perfect. If you routinely praise physical beauty, your kids’ self esteem, confidence, and value will come from their looks–what’s on the outside. If it’s integrity, hard work, responsibility, and an internal compass, then their self worth will come from their actions, their choices, and effort–what’s on the inside. Make time throughout the day to genuinely praise those things and you will raise kids who believe in themselves and work hard to make a difference.
