Don’t Let Sacrifice Define You As A Parent

PUT YOURSELF UP ON THE SAME PEDESTAL AS YOU DO YOUR KIDS. It’s easy to fall into a habit of sacrificing your needs for the needs of your children. Isn’t that the definition of a “good” parent? NO. Early on, you were on call 24/7 as you met the needs of your newborn, yet don’t let those early survival techniques of putting your needs last, stay with you as your kids grow up. A shower at one time might have felt like a luxury, although your growing child now needs you to set a healthy role model of caring for yourself. You need to pursue your passions and interests. Your job now is to love, nurture, and guide your kids to become self sufficient, self-directed, and independent. This shift is important, both for your growth and your family’s.
