Don’t be too quick to grant your kids access to social media. Even if your kids beg with the classic, “Everyone is on facebook, Mom!” Don’t buy it and consider re-thinking your decision if your kids already have fb accounts. The elementary and middle school years are socially challenging enough without introducing another “world” that your kids need to navigate. Your kids don’t need to know what everyone is doing, when, why, and with whom. in fact, there is no quicker way to feeling bad about yourself than to read that so- and- so it having a bunch of kids over and everyone is invited but you. That hurts– a lot, especially if you’re a kid. Just say, “no.”
