Really try to stop comparing yourself to other moms–no one wins. You will always find someone  who is bigger, stronger, and faster, if you are looking for it. When you embrace who YOU are and focus on what YOU want out of motherhood, then living up to your dreams and ideals becomes your goal. And achieving it is your focus. Who has energy to waste on anything or anyone else? Think of how much more fun you will have with your family when you live YOUR dream , as opposed to trying to live the dream of another!

After spending a day with celebrity moms, my hunch was confirmed. Mothers are mothers. No matter where you live, what you do for a living, or who you know. If you are raising children, you know how it feels to be overwhelmed, tired, and not in control. When we connect with each other honestly about how hard it is to juggle the demands of raising a family, it doesn’t matter if you’re on the cover of People magazine.

You can have it all, just not all at the same time. You cannot be all things to all people. It takes courage and confidence to say, “No.” It isn’t easy, yet it’s vital to have a clear sense of your priorities–for yourself & your family. Your kids are watching you and learning how to juggle the demands of motherhood, while growing personally in the process. You are teaching them. What a privilege!

Sleep And Be Happier

Sleep. We all need it, yet for years when our kids were young, we had little. We started to believe that it wasn’t really necessary. Yet, science tells us that it’s as important as the food we eat and the air we breathe. Insist on it, find the time for it, and you will feel better and be more up to the challenges of motherhood.

Welcoming a new year can be as exciting as it is stressful. Don’t get caught in the trap. It isn’t the number on the scale that’s a priority, but the fact that you want to invest more time in taking better care of you. What an awesome goal. Celebrate it and do your best to do one thing each day that helps you achieve it. Make it a great year!

Ask For Help

Asking for help is smart–it’s a strength, not a weakness. As you consider everything on your plate today, think about whom you can turn to for support. Your family is the easiest and most obvious first place to look. Share your “to-do” list and divide up the tasks. Your are creating a team and that’s healthy.
